Blue-fronted Amazon x Yellow-crowned Amazon hybrids have green plumage with gold and red shoulders, a light gray or grayish-pink beak, and a bright yellow face surrounded and broken up by turquoise feathers. They were first recorded in the collection of C. Smith in 1972 and are still somewhat rare today, sometimes being misidentified as pure
Orange-winged x Yellow-crowned Amazons are green hybrids with a scattered daffodil-yellow crown and pale yellow-orange cheeks. While most crosses have a slight blue lore, this feature is often unnoticeable from afar. They will always have brownish bills that darken to gray at the tip, as well as grayish feet. Although these birds are somewhat common
The features of each species appear to “cancel out” in Vinaceous x Yellow-crowned crosses, leaving the hybrid with bland green plumage and few noticeable similarities to either of its parents. However, some traits still poke through; The bird’s slightly maroon collar feathers and orange bill take after the Vinaceous parent, while small patches of yellow
A hybrid with emerald-green plumage, a red-orange lore, a bright yellow mask, and a bill mixed with dark gray and light brown. While some Red-lored x Yellow-shouldered crosses have yellow shoulder feathers, others completely lack them; This tends to depend on how strong they were in the Yellow-shouldered parent. Similarly, some hybrids may also have
An uncommon hybrid with a bright yellow crown, sky-blue lores, and pale green-gold cheeks. The bill is a mix of camel-brown and dark gray, but may lighten as the bird matures. Small yellowish wing markings inherited from the Orange-winged parent can be observed on the sides of the wings, but these may not be present
Orange-winged x Yellow-naped Amazons are somewhat common hybrids with green body plumage, light green or yellow cheeks, and variable patches of yellow and blue on the face. These patches tend to be stronger in younger birds, though this also depends on the subspecies of the Yellow-naped parent. Lastly, their bills tend to be light gray
One of the most common Amazon hybrids, Blue-fronted x Yellow-naped crosses are green with gray feet and a yellow and blue crown – the yellow often overtaking the blue. Their bill is mixed with light and dark gray, but usually tends towards a darker shade in most birds. They almost never have a noticeably yellow
Despite how common both parents are in captivity, Yellow-headed x Yellow-naped Amazon hybrids are surprisingly difficult to find. They are almost completely green with scattered patches of golden yellow on the face – ranging from the crown, to the lore, and to the cheeks in some birds. There is little to no evidence of a
Yellow-crowned x Yellow-naped crosses are somewhat uncommon green hybrids with a small cluster of yellow feathers on the crown, though the strength of these varies from bird to bird. As in all Yellow-naped hybrids, there is no obvious evidence of a yellow nape marking – though this region is sometimes a slightly different shade of
For several decades after Timneh African Grays were first bred in captivity, hybrids between them and Congos were somewhat common due to the belief that they were the same species. Today, they are quite rare and believed to be fertile. They tend to be slightly larger than pure Timnehs, having medium-gray plumage with a muddy
