An incredibly rare hybrid, the first Buffgold x Catalina may have first been bred by Birds International in the Philippines. Based on the pictured individual, they are generally green with a mixed-color beak, a dark chin patch and facial stripes, blue flight feathers, and a yellow or otherwise warmly-colored frontside. The tail is a combination of blue, green, and rust, while the crown may be red or brownish. An additional yellow feather is present on one wing, a somewhat common occurrence in second or third generation macaw hybrids.
Of all hybrids, Buffgold x Catalina hybrids are likely most similar to Milicat Macaws (Miligold x Catalina), but are larger in size. They are 50% Blue and Gold Macaw, 25% Great Green Macaw, and 25% Scarlet Macaw.
