Scarlet Macaw x Yellow-collared Macaw (Voren’s Macaw)

Scarlet x Yellow-collared Macaws are rare hybrids that have an interesting history in aviculture. The birds were originally named “Cuban Macaws”, as they were first bred in an attempt to visually recreate the extinct species. Their colors are somewhat similar to Shamrock Macaws (Scarlet x Military), having a red crown and frontside with lighter yellow-green on the back. By comparison, however, these crosses are smaller, have a noticeable yellow nape, and lack cheek stripes. They are the only cross involving Yellow-collared Macaws where their signature yellow marking remains visible.
