Lutino is an uncommon recessive mutation in Dusky-headed Conures that is quickly growing in popularity worldwide. Birds of this variety are fully yellow with a pale buttercup face, whitish flight and tail feathers, and red pupils. As in all Lutinos, the bill and feet are pink. In many areas, they have become numerous enough to break into the pet trade.
Interestingly, Lutino Dusky Conures have been hybridized with Sun Conures in order to transfer the mutation to the latter species. These hybrids are known to be fertile.
