Dilute Green-cheeked Conure

Dilute, sometimes known as “American Dilute”, is a common color mutation in Green-cheeked Conures that was first discovered in the United States. Dilutes have a light green face and wings with a silvery hood, somewhat salmon-colored ears, and a bright yellow and red frontside. While very similar to Cinnamon, they can be identified through their gray bill, especially pale blue flight feathers, and a body color that lacks the warm undertones of the prior.

Breeders often prefer to combine Dilute with Yellow-sided, Turquoise, and Cinnamon to produce Green-cheeked Conures with more aesthetically pleasing colors. Of these, Suncheeks (Yellow-sided Cinnamon Dilute) and Mooncheeks (Turquoise + Yellow-sided + Cinnamon + Dilute) are the more desirable.
