A somewhat uncommon variety, High Red Jenday Conures are produced by selectively breeding the reddest members of their species together. As a result, High Reds have a more intense red or red-orange color across their head, chest, and belly than the wild form. Some birds may also have red and orange edging on their wing feathers, even if they are completely pure.
The genes responsible for High Red in Jenday Conures are completely separate from those responsible for Red Factor in Sun Conures. Unlike Red Factors, it is possible to breed two High Reds together without risking the health of their offspring.
