A somewhat rare mutation, True Blue is very striking on a Half-moon Conure; Azure-blue plumage covers the body, contrasted by royal-blue flights and a small white crown. Birds with ample access to sunlight often develop yellow eye rings, which are not seen in most other conure species.
In 2023, two young Half-moon Conures with this mutation were taken from a wild nest in Oaxaca, Mexico. This is believed to be the first recorded occurrence of Blue Half-moons in the wild.
