Cinnamon Maroon-bellied Conures have brownish-green plumage with dark red feathering on the crown, belly, and tail tip. The bird’s blue flight feathers, as well as the beak and toes, are also slightly paler. As in all Cinnamons, the eyes are temporarily reddish after hatching.
While some Cinnamon Maroon-bellied Conures received their mutation from hybridization with Green-cheeked Conures, others are entirely pure. Whether or not the prior hybrids were produced purposefully is unknown, as the two are often mistakenly crossed by breeders. The most effective way to tell the difference between a Cinnamon Maroon-belly and a Cinnamon Green-cheek is to look at the cap and tail; The prior have a greenish cap with a small maroon crown and a mostly green tail, while the latter will have a wheat-colored cap and a fully red tail.
