Dark Factor is a rare mutation in White-eared Conures that darkens the bird’s green and blue feathers. Birds with one copy of the gene (called SFs, D Greens, or Dark Greens) have slightly darker colors than a wild-type, while birds with two copies (called DFs, DD Greens, or Olives) have an obvious swamp-green body and blue-gray flight feathers. Despite the variety’s dominant mode of inheritance, it will likely spread slowly due to the rarity of White-eared Conures in captivity.
