Dark Factor is a very rare mutation in Rose-crowned Conures that comes in two varieties: Dark Green (SF, one gene copy) and Olive (DF, two gene copies). While Dark Greens are only slightly darker than the wild form, Olives are a noticeable swamp-green that contrasts strongly with the bright red crown, ears, and tail. The flight feathers are blue-gray while the bill, feet, and eyes remain unchanged.
Interestingly, a yellow, red, and green “pied” bird was recently bred from Dark Factor Rose-crowned Conures in the United Kingdom. It’s currently unclear if the variety is a true mutation.
