Gray-green is a developing mutation in Taiwan that is currently the darkest color available in Green-cheek Conures. The variety is often called “Dominant Olive” to distinguish it from Gray-green Maroon-bellied Conures, although it is not true Olive (Dark Factor). These birds have dark gray-green wings & cheeks, a gray cap & feet, a red tail, and black flight feathers. Most Gray-greens are combined with Yellow-sided for more contrasting colors.
Combining Gray-green with Turquoise results in a “Mauve”, though like the name “Olive”, it is not a true Mauve. These birds are fully gray and black, with only a small amount of yellow color remaining on the cheeks and wings. They are significantly rarer than regular Gray-greens.
