First discovered in the United Kingdom among the Lesser Patagonian Conure subspecies (C. p. patagonus), Lutinos are rare mutants that were originally known as “yellow” Patagonian Conures. They are mostly golden-yellow with patches of white on the breast and flights, as well as pale red on the crown and thighs. Both the bill and feet are completely pink. Though some have argued that the variety is actually Dark-eyed Clear/Clear Pied due to the pictured bird’s apparent lack of red pupils, this is likely the result of poor lighting; the red eyes of many Lutino parrots are not always obvious.
